Boonton Borough (07005) is located in Morris County, NJ - about 25 miles west of NYC. The Borough was established in 1829 as a result of the construction of the
Morris Canal and the development of the New Jersey Iron Company. The community has a total area of 2.45 square miles and has approximately 3,350 housing units. Main Street has lots of small shops and restaurants. The community is well-established with older homes, abundant park lands, and convenient access to the NY metropolitan area. There are two major sections of residential housing. Neighborhoods on the west side of Route 287 are considered to be in The Hill section and neighborhoods on the east side of Route 287 are considered to be in The Flats. Housing stock includes pre world war homes including colonials, victorians, and multi-family dwellings. There is also a mix of 1900s ranch, cape, bi-level, and split levels as well as newer colonial replacement homes sprinkled across the community.

Commute
Boonton Borough has easy access to Interstate 287 and 80. The community has a train station on the
NJ Transit Montclair-Boonton Line which offers service to Hoboken Terminal. Passengers can transfer to another train or bus before Hoboken for a Midtown Manhattan commute. At Hoboken Terminal, passengers can switch to the
PATH to reach NYC.
Lakeland Bus provides service from Boonton to NY Port Authority in Midtown. During rush hour, the bus ride takes about 55 minutes.
Public Schools
Boonton Public Schools serve students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Schools in the district are: School Street School (K-3), John Hill School (4-6), Middle School (7 & 8) and High School (9-12).
Recreation
The Town of Boonton offers Sports and Recreational activities for residents of all ages, which include day trips to Atlantic City and Youth Sports. The parks that are located in the community are Kanouse Pocket Park, Grace Lord Park, Pepe Field, and Mayor's Park. There are some great hiking trails located close to the Borough, which include the Tourne, Pyramid Mountain, and Turkey Mountain.
