Dover is a Town in Morris County, New Jersey on the Rockaway River. Dover is 39 miles west of New York City and 29 miles west of Newark, New Jersey. Dover has a busy downtown district and quiet residential streets. Dover developed as a traditional town with a small central business district surrounded by compact single and multi family homes which have lots of old world charm. A number of commercially zoned properties can be found along Route 46 and Blackwell Street.

Rockaway Townsquare Mall is one of the largest and most modern malls in New Jersey.

Dover is easily accessible by Routes 10, 46, 80 and 15. Dover is also served by NJ Transit's Morristown Line and Montclair-Boonton Line at the Dover train station on Dickerson Street. Lakeland Bus Lines maintains a garage & terminal on Blackwell Street near the border with Rockaway Township and has regular service to Sparta, Mount Olive, Rockaway, Boonton, Montclair, Newark and New York City.

The Dover School District serves students in Pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. Schools in the district are Academy Street Elementary School (K-5), East Dover Elementary School (3-6), North Dover Elementary School (PreK-5), Dover Middle School (7&8) and Dover High School (9-12).

There are numerous parks located in Dover including JFK Commons Park, Water Works Park, Overlook Park, Hurd Park and Hedden County Park, which is a 380-acre Morris County park, with the park entrances in Randolph. Hedden Park's lake is six acres with a fishing pier, boat rentals (in season), a boat house, a deck area, and an outdoor fireplace for ice skaters
