Rockaway Township is the largest municipality in Morris County, spanning over 45.6 square miles. The township has a total population of approximately 23,000 and is 35 miles west of New York City. Newark International Airport is 35 minutes away and the Mid-Town NYC train station is located in the nearby towns of Dover or Denville. From its sparsely populated northern sections with miles of protected wildlife areas, to the denser suburban areas in the south along Route 80, Rockaway Township boasts a mix of pleasant suburban neighborhoods and beautiful rural areas.

The entire community of Rockaway Township is a rolling countryside with excellent recreational facilities. The township is home to the Farny State Park, Wildcat Ridge, Split Rock Reservoir, and the Mount Hope Historical Park. Residents of Rockaway Township are able to join Frog Falls Waterpark located on the Picatinny Arsenal Property.

Rockaway Schools
Rockaway Township Public Schools are made up of five elementary schools and one middle school. The schools serving students in Kindergarten through 5th grades are Birchwood, Catherine A. Dwyer, Dennis B. O'Brien, Katherine D. Malone and Stony Brook. Copeland Middle School serves grades 6 through 8. Students in grades 9-12 attend Morris Hills High School in Rockaway Borough or Morris Knolls High School in Rockaway Township, depending where in the township they live. The high schools are part of the Morris Hills Regional High School District, which also serves the residential communities of Rockaway Borough and Wharton.

Rockaway Shopping
The Rockaway Townsquare Mall is located in Rockaway just off of Route 80 and Mount Hope Avenue. The mall is anchored by Macy’s, JC Penny’s, Lord & Taylor, Target, Walmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Best Buy, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and numerous other specialty stores. Rockaway Townsquare Mall is one of the largest and most modern malls in New Jersey.

Rockaway Commute
The nearby towns of Denville and Dover offer train service via NJ Transit to NYC. Lakeland Bus offers service to Port Authority in NYC and has scheduled stops at the Rockaway Townsquare Mall.
