Schools in the Roxbury district consist of four elementary schools: Franklin Elementary School (K-3), Kennedy Elementary School (K-4), Jefferson Elementary School (K-5) and Nixon Elementary School (K-3). Lincoln/Roosevelt School serves grades 5 and 6, Eisenhower Middle School serves grades 7 and 8. Grades 9–12 attend Roxbury High School. Students from the neighboring town of Mt. Arlington also attend Roxbury High School.

Roxbury’s Horseshoe Lake Recreational Area features swimming, picnic areas, a pavilion, playground, and sports fields for soccer, baseball, basketball, and volleyball. Roxbury has 13 parks that are beautifully maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department. Roxbury also has a very active Senior and Teen Center. The Shore Hills Country Club, located in Landing, has a beach and clubhouse on Lake Hopatcong and is available to residents of the towns surrounding Lake Hopatcong for an annual fee.

Roxbury is home to the Ledgewood Mall and Roxbury Mall, along with dozens of chain stores and popular fast-food and casual-dining restaurants along Route 10. The Rockaway Townsquare Mall is about 15 minutes away in Rockaway Township and is one of the largest and most modern malls in New Jersey. The ITC Crossing is about 10 minutes away in Mount Olive and features large national chain stores and popular restaurants.
